Hotels, inns, and motels in Harwich

The Lower Cape town of Harwich is comprised of seven separate villages and four harbors, interspersed with rivers, marshlands, freshwater ponds, cranberry bogs, forests, and, of course, miles of sandy beaches. Situated on the southern coast of the Cape, Harwich has 22 beaches on Nantucket Sound, Pleasant Bay, and on its numerous freshwater ponds. Excellent hiking can be had along the trails in the hundreds of acres preserved by the Harwich Conservation Trust, and canoeing and kayaking are popular along the extensive freshwater marshes of the Herring River. Many charter fishing boats operate out of the town’s harbors for deep-sea fishing, and fly-fishing can be found at many ponds. Harwich Cape Cod Town Bandstand

The town also boasts two golf courses (Harwich Port and Cranberry Valley), two theaters (Cape Playhouse and Harwich Junior Theater), several annual festivals, including the Harwich Farm Fest (August) and the Harwich Cranberry Festival (September), and the Harwich Historical Society’s Brooks Academy Museum. Although each of the villages has a unique character, the most popular destination for vacationers is the peaceful village of Harwich Port, situated on the water near the sandy beaches on Nantucket Sound. The village is home to three of Harwich’s four harbors, Wychmere Harbor being the most scenic of the three, but seal-watching cruises and ferries to Nantucket can both be found at the marina in Saquatucket Harbor. All the villages, however, have their share of restaurants, shops, and lodging, including historic inns, bed and breakfasts, vacations rentals, and two resorts: the Winstead Beach Resort and the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club.
