Woods Hole Cape Cod Massachusetts
Although part of the town of Falmouth, Woods Hole’s geographic
location, jutting out into the water, sets it apart from the other seven
villages that make up the town of Falmouth. The Woods Hole is well known
not only as the place to catch the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, but
also as a center of research and study in Oceanography and Marine Biology.
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Marine Biological Laboratory,
and the Sea Education Association are all located in this small village
(it was also the location of Buckminster Fuller’s first geodesic
dome).
The village itself is a picturesque seaside port, perfect for pleasant
strolls to view the historic architecture, browsing in the plentiful the
shops and galleries, sampling the fresh seafood at one of the local eateries,
or grabbing a seat at a sidewalk café for a bit of people-watching.
Don’t miss the views from Woods Hole’s historic Nobska Lighthouse
and beach.
