This is a fish market and restaurant. These kinds of restaurants offer
a classic New England dining experience. Variously known as clam shacks,
fish shacks or lobster shacks, no visit to Cape Cod is complete without
sampling fried seafood at one of these establishments. Osterville Fish
Too is a good choice for families. Features outdoor dining. As with most
clam shacks, you can count on finding non-seafood menu items such as burgers,
chicken and hot dogs.

This establishment was spolighted on Oprah's show and it's become a dining
destination ever since. If you are a food pilgrim then this belongs on
your shortlist of places to visit for savory and dessert pies. Chicken
pot pies, meat pies, and more. You'll do well to call your order in ahead.

The Lobster Pot is an indoor lobster and clam shack. The decor is modest,
with plastic cutlery and such. However what counts here is the food, particularly
the clam chowder that is regarded by some as among the best on Cape Cod,
no doubt because of the fresh ingredients used, including real clam juice
from the clams, not a bottle. Also features the standard clam shack fare
of fried seafood, steamers, etc. Family friendly, reasonable prices and
generous portions make this a good stop for families and clam shack aficionados.

It gives the restaurant focus and makes it easy to know what to expect.
The Breakfast Room is one of those places. The Breakfast Room offers informal
breakfast dining. Features traditional breakfast fare and some creative
items as well, such as Cranberry Walnut Pancakes. Excellent choice for
families.
The Friendly Fisherman Restaurant and Fish Market

Not as popular (or crowded) as Arnold's, and located just a short drive
from Arnolds, The Friendly Fisherman is a good spot for families to enjoy
fried seafood. There is outdoor seating and a play area for kids to romp
around in. The food is fresh and tasty in the classic manner of a Cape
Cod clam shack. Their scallop rolls and lobster rolls are outstanding.
The seafood market offers some of the fresh seafood, including shrimp
(from the Gulf of Mexico) and locally sourced live lobsters so you can
load up and grill it wherever you are staying. Also available in the market
are stuffed clams and various chowders- all made from scratch on the premises.
The lines are reasonable, the food is fresh and tasty and the restaurant
is kid friendly. An enjoyable place to visit for casual family friendly
outdoor dining.

While this restaurant is not in Eastham, it is just over the town line,
so it's close enough to be listed. Catch of the Day is a casual family
friendly lunch restaurant that offers good sandwiches and seafood rolls-
chicken, beef, seafood are all on the menu. Their ketchup on the table
is the healthier natural version as opposed to the usual corn syrup and
preservative laden versions you find at most establishments. For good
casual sandwiches and rolls in a peaceful indoor or outdoor setting midway
between a diner and a home-style restaurant, I rate this as a go-to restaurant
when all you want is a good sandwich in a tranquil setting. Vegetarian
menu items available.

They offer award winning sandwiches and non-traditional traditional New
England dishes such as stuffed clams with Spanish sausage. That's alll
good. But what really excites this reviewer is their special Thursday
night German menu. They still serve their regular menu on Thursday nights,
but they also offer delectable German dinners on Thursdays. If you've
never had German food then be prepared for the ultimate in comfort food
(and a maybe a big nap afterward!). There are some vegetarian
options but because this restaurant only cooks what is in season
we recommend you call ahead to find out what's on the menu.

Mac's Shack

We love this restaurant. LOVE IT. Don't be fooled by the name, this restaurant
is not a shack. It's as opposite to a shack as a restaurant can be.The
waiting list to be seated can be daunting if you arrive during prime seating
hours so we suggest arriving early. Nevertheless Mac's Shack is worth
the wait, which is not that bad because of an outdoor raw bar and a bar
area where you can order small plates, sushi, and cocktails while you
wait; thus, your seafood bacchanal can start before you're even seated.
There is outdoor seating to accomodate you as well as air conditioned
indoor seating. The air conditioning set-up can use some reconsidering,
though. The last time we were there (summer 2010) the AC was loud and
uncomfortably windy. It was the only thing that negatively impacted our
evening, although fortunately we were able to move to a better table (but
that meant that another party had to suffer). Sit too close to their fans
and the sound can almost drown out your conversation. Fortunately those
seats are few in number. Other than that the food was excellent, a dream.
Some plates are offered in small and large portions which is good if you
intend to eat family style because the large plates are generous.

Pie in the Sky Bakery is a small spot offering soups, salads, and sandwiches.
It's a good breakfast spot with a college town cafe feel to it. True to
their name this cafe and bakery offers many sumptious baked goods and
excellent coffee.

Authentic style Japanese restaurant featuring sushi, grilled meats and
a fair selection of vegetarian food. The
only quirk is the inclusion of Shumai (a Chinese food) on the menu. Nevertheless,
Inaho can be a welcome break from standard Cape Cod fare.
