Restaurants in Wellfleet
Wellfleet Cape Cod is synonymous with fresh seafood. The following restaurant
reviews are of the best restaurants that typify what Wellfleet fine dining
has to offer. This is by no means definitive as there are many excellent
restaurants in Wellfleet for us to try. However, these are our impressions
of a few of Wellfleets restaurants that we researched and ate at and are
worth writing about. We hope this serves as a guide to help you decide
where you will eat in Wellfleet.
Wicked Oyster
Address: 50 Main St, Wellfleet Cape Cod,
Massachusetts
Phone: 508-349-3455
Wicked Oyster offers upscale sophisticated renderings of traditional surf
and turf featuring fresh ingredients of the highest quality. This casual
restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining, and is open all year long.
Try the grilled pork chop with smashed potatoes seasoned with mustard,
brussels sprouts with bacon, apple compote, and a cider demi-glaze or
the pan roasted catch of the day over a light cream broth with littlenecks,
leeks, bacon, and fingerling potatoes. Bring the family out for a nice
dinner, or your significant other for an impressive meal.
Mac's Shack
Address: 91 Commercial St, Wellfleet, MA
Phone: 508-349-6333
Don't be fooled by the name, the word shack is used here very loosely.
If I were to sum up this restaurant in a single sentence I would say that
Mac's Shack offers family friendly upscale dining. Although there can
be a long wait in summer, the wait won't be too long if you arrrive on
the early side for dinner. Expect to wait at least a half hour or more
if you arrive around 7 PM. Nevertheless, this restaurant is so well planned
that the wait is mitigated by comfortable outdoor benches and seating
at the bar and raw bar where diners can whet their appetities on Mac's
fine selection of fresh raw oysters, sushi, and miscellaneous cooked items.
Order a cocktail or a savignon blanc while you wait in a relaxed seafood
nirvana with a platter of raw oysters and sushi. On a warm summer evening,
there's nothing like the air coming off the water while enjoying fresh
seafood. Mac's is a personal favorite and a highlight of every trip our
family makes to Wellfleet. For dinner, consider the lobster and the Clam
Chowder or if it's on the menu the delicious lobster ravioli. There are
two sizes available and I found the smaller size to be reasonable for
a single person although the larger size is great if you're enjoying a
family style dinner.
Mac's Seafood
Address: 265 Commercial Street Wellfleet
Cape Cod MA 02667
Phone: 508-349-9611
Under same ownership as Mac's Shack, this really is the clam shack you
would expect for an establishment named Mac's Shack. This is the shack.
The food is awesome. Located on the waterfront, expect to get a hearty
breeze off the ocean. It's a great location but at times can be a bit
windy but welcome in the summer. This location is a takeout spot with
outdoor seating and a seafood market featuring locally caught bluefish
and other seafood including very reasonably priced clams, oysters and
smoked fish. Their lobster salad roll and cole slaw lived up to high standards
of what you would expect from a good New England fish shack. The lobster
bisque was notably delicious because the lobster flavor came through very
well within the creamy sauce. The raw oysters were fantastic. If you appreciate
the New England clam shack experience in all of it's to-go
unpretentiousness as well as hyper-fresh seafood then Mac's Seafood
is the place to go not only in Wellfleet but in all of Cape Cod.
Wellfleet Town Pizza
Address: 55 Commercial Street - Wellfleet,
Cape Cod MA 02667
Phone: 508-349-6400
Award winning thin crust pizza featuring house specials like the Bulldog
(all meat) and the "Silence of the Clams" (clams, olive, oil,
and garlic). They also feature an extensive menu of vegetarian
pizzas. If you're lactose intolerant or allergic to cows milk then try
"Picasso's Goat" which is a white pizza made of Baby Spinach,
Roasted Red Peppers, Eggplant, Pesto, Goat Cheese. You can also order
grinders and salads. Restaurant is open all year long. It's small inside
so you may want to call ahead or take out.
